Winter is still here

Unfortunately, it’s still very cold here in MN. Last week, we had a ton of snow, which is still making things difficult to get around town. It’s been super cold, and the salt doesn’t do much on the roads.

During the storm, I was actually in St. Louis for work, trying to fly back. Of course, I ended up on a flight that was cancelled, so I had to stay an extra night, which was hard considering I was missing my little girl after traveling for 3 days.  When I finally got home Friday afternoon, I took the rest of the day off and the weekend too and just enjoyed time with this sweet face.

And today, she’s home with me. With this weather, sickness definitely lingers. Miss Isla got sick in the middle of the night. Even though there is nothing else wrong, no fever, no more throwing up, I decided a day home with mom would be better than sending her to daycare.

In other news, Isla passed her swimming lessons that we just wrapped up and has moved on to the next class, which we start on Saturday. She LOVES swimming lessons, so I’m really excited for her to spend lots of time at the pool this summer. Especially since I’ll be on maternity leave for most of it, so we’ll really be able to enjoy it.

Speaking of baby #2, we’re S-L-O-W-L-Y getting ready for the mister’s arrival. We have 3 months to go, and lots to do. Isla is officially moved into her big girl room, so now I can paint the nursery.  I ordered the mister’s bedding, and have started to figure out a few accessories.  Cabin fever is really setting in though, and I can’t wait for spring to get here so I can get outside, and get the motivation to finish all the projects on our list.

Isla is aware that there’s a baby in mommy’s belly, but of course, at 2, doesn’t know the full impact yet. With her moved into her big girl room and becoming a little more independent each day, I’m hoping that we’ll get her back to being 100% potty trained before her brother arrives. I think she knows she can control it, and just decides when she’ll go on the potty and when she won’t. So, we’ll see what happens.

Here’s hoping that next week’s weather report is better than this week’s!
